The translation gives a clear insight into the intended messaging of the Quran. Personally I have derived and absorbed many meanings of single verses from this translation which I did not find with others. It also has a special personal meaning as it was the translation which provided me guidance during a very confusing spiritual time.
Beautiful translation. I've compared at least 15 major English translation and really none capture the power and poetic beauty of the Quran the way this new translation does. The meanings of the Quranic verses are communicated with precise accuracy...Overall highly recommend. The hardcover version with Arabic on facing pages is even more highly recommended, with beautiful typesetting that makes it a joy to read.
It's my go-to translation, especially for understanding surahs that I'm trying to memorize. I especially appreciate the translation of "laa ikraha fi-d-deen" (2:256) as "There is no compelling anyone to enter the faith" rather than the usual "There is no compulsion in religion." Recently I have encountered people twisting this ayat to mean that there are no obligations in Islam.
The benefits have been many. I have been able to connect with the meaning of the verses in a way I never have before. The heavy words keep their weight through the brilliant translation. This has allowed me to get a grasp of the bigger picture the different surahs are trying to portray. The side by side English-Arabic...has helped me a great deal in connecting with the verses during prayers.
Just look at how verse 5 in Al-Fatihah (Chapter 1: Opening) is translated:“You alone we humbly adore and in You alone we seek help”. This alone suffices as proof for the surpassing quality of Sheikh Nuh Keller’s translation of the meaning of the Qur’an...I cannot recommend this translation enough to anyone who wishes to get as close as possible to the Arabic glory of the Qur’an but can only do so in English.
